installation, 2013

An installation created in collaboration with Wiener Festwochen reflecting on the themes from Romeo Castellucci’s Sul concetto di volto nel figlio di Dio.

The room is set out to imitate a waiting room while referencing a church setting with the appropriate relics. Visitors are encouraged to participate in an ongoing performative process where as individuals they are reduced to a single number on a screen. Over the speakers the phrase "Next please" is heard repeatedly, in unison with the singing of a church choir. The numbers on the altar- like setting are reminiscent of the choral song numbers found in churches. Frustration, helplessness and a sense of time manipulation are the main emotional components. The work extracts themes from Castellucci’s piece and adapts them into a new experience.
